Wildlife Hazard Assessment and Management Plan Services
We conduct a Wildlife Hazard Assessments (WHA) pursuant to FAA guidelines, provide training for your airport staff, and assist you with creating a Wildlife Hazard Management Plan (WHMP). Bird strikes have become an increasing safety problem for civil and military aircraft. We have a highly trained and qualified team of biologists who specialize in this field.
“Events in early 2009 amplified public awareness of wildlife strikes to aircraft. The dramatic “forced landing” of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River on 15 January 2009 after Canada geese were ingested in both engines on the Airbus 320 (National Transportation Safety Board 2009, Marra et al. 2009) dramatically demonstrated to the public at large that bird strikes are a serious aviation safety issue.” -Wildlife Strikes to Civil Aircraft in the United States 1990-2008 (Sept 2009)
OEC can assist by helping you update your exiting WHA, and WHMP. Based on the latest guidance from FAA, all Title 139 (commercial airports in the US) will be required to have a WHMP in place as part of their safety management plan. We are here to get you there safely.
