Environmental Permitting

If you own or are interested in buying property that has wetlands or listed species, environmental permits may be the best solution for you. OEC is not always the bearer of bad news about environmental limitations on your property. We may be able to offer some solutions.

State and federal regulatory agencies have permitting procedures that sometimes allow utilization of properties with environmental limitations. Each situation is unique, and we have a great deal of experience in guiding our clients through the regulatory process.

Wetland permits may be issued by counties, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), one of the water-management districts (WMD) or by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE). If you live in Georgia, you may be dealing with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) if you property is near tidal waters.

Generally, environmental permits take four to six months to issue, and under certain circumstances may take up to a year or longer. Because no one is guaranteed a permit, we always recommend very careful planning prior to undertaking this process.

We can help you with your permitting needs. Call us at 904.384.7020.
